The Nine-Year Path

Body, Mind, and Spirit.

Lower Grades Art Class

Grades 1-3: "The Body Phase"

Unstructured Learning - Focus on relationships, daily life, and expression.

Early years focus on physical senses and healthy rhythms. Students experience the world through play and art. Building trust with teachers and peers comes first.

  • Nature play and ecological sensitivity (Forest outings).
  • Arts and expression (Drawing, music, knitting).
  • Basic literacy and relationship building through storytelling.
Middle Grades Gardening

Grades 4-6: "The Heart Phase"

Structured Learning - Inquiry and internalization of values.

Curiosity deepens. We introduce project-based learning. Students study history, geography, and science through direct experience, not just textbooks. They practice resolving conflicts within the community.

  • Experiential projects (Woodworking, farming, theater).
  • Historical and cultural field trips.
  • Learning peace, human rights, and community spirit.
Upper Grades Graduation Trip Prep

Grades 7-9: "The Mind Phase"

Collaborative Learning - Self-reflection, ownership, and finding direction.

Adolescence is for finding one's voice. Students take ownership through self-directed projects, internships, and student government. They prepare to become independent citizens.

  • Independent research projects and presentations.
  • Internships, career exploration, and civic engagement.
  • Student-planned graduation trips.
  • Independence through humanities, social sciences, labor, and travel.

Distinctive Features

Learning beyond the textbook.

Relationship-Centered

Relationships dictate the quality of education. Trust between teacher and child is the foundation. It is a philosophy of organic connection.

Life-Centered

Labor and learning are not separate. We value the education that happens through physical work and daily routines.

Child-Centered

Children are complete beings. We guide them to find their own paths based on their inherent nature and individuality.

Experiential

Learning requires all the senses. True joy in learning comes from fulfilling one's own curiosity through direct experience.

Cultural Roots

We ground ourselves through traditional play, music, food, philosophy, and history. We travel the country to make it our classroom.

Autonomy

We face problems together. We build equal relationships based on sincerity. Students learn independence through free choice and accountability.

Core Philosophy

Learning the depth of life.

Education here goes beyond delivering facts. We focus on practicing these values in daily life.

Diversity and Value of Life

We learn the value of life by interacting with nature. We understand human dignity through events like the Sewol ferry tragedy. We build the strength for a sustainable future.

Nature is not an object. We learn the wisdom of living within its cycles.

Conflict and Peace

We study our history of conflict. By learning about the Jeju 4.3 and Gwangju 5.18 movements, we understand that true peace requires standing up for freedom and dignity against violence.

We foster peace by understanding diverse cultures.

History Trip

Dignity and Respect

We trace the history of human rights struggles. We do not ignore past abuses; we learn from those who fought for humanity.

We teach students to stand against discrimination. They learn to value themselves and others, focusing on personal growth over mere results.

Living Together

We study various forms of community to understand how to live cooperatively.

Students experience how individual happiness and value shine within a collaborative environment, rather than a competitive one.

Honest Sweat

We examine the evolving value of labor throughout history. We teach honest work and fair distribution, guiding students to become active participants in society.

We find meaning and build dreams through physical work.
